Lane closures on M4 Prince of Wales Bridge following collision
By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

Motorists travelling between Swindon and Bristol are facing delays this morning due to emergency repairs on the Prince of Wales Bridge following an earlier crash.
Drivers travelling on the M4 this morning are being advised to expect delays following a collision that has resulted in emergency barrier repairs on the Prince of Wales Bridge. The incident, which occurred at approximately 6am, has affected traffic in both directions between junction 22 for the M49 and junction 23 for the M48.
National Highways and local traffic reports indicate that lane closures are currently in place to facilitate the necessary repairs to damaged barriers. While initial reports indicated more extensive disruption, traffic is currently reported to be coping well, although motorists should allow extra time for their journeys if heading west towards Bristol or east towards Swindon and beyond.
Road users are encouraged to check the latest traffic updates before setting off, as the status of the lane closures may change as the emergency repair work progresses throughout the day.
