Police and local licensees are working together through the Calne Pubwatch scheme to consider new exclusion orders aimed at preventing disorder in the town.

Calne's licensed premises are working closely with the neighbourhood policing team to address potential anti-social behaviour, with a series of new exclusion orders currently under consideration. At a recent meeting of the Calne Pubwatch scheme, representatives from local venues and the police discussed a number of proposed bans for individuals identified as contributing to disorder.

While officials have confirmed that levels of crime and disorder linked to the town's nightlife remain low, the collaboration serves as a proactive measure to ensure the area stays safe for residents and visitors. Wiltshire Police licensing officers and members of the local Pubwatch group have agreed that identified individuals will be barred from participating venues where appropriate.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police emphasised the value of this partnership, noting that regular dialogue between the police and publicans is vital for sharing information. The force has indicated that it intends to maintain this close cooperation to ensure that the positive environment within the town's night-time economy continues.

In a broader update concerning local policing priorities, officers have also turned their attention to traffic concerns following the start of the new academic year. Reports of congestion and inconsiderate parking around some schools in Calne have prompted renewed efforts to assess traffic flow. Officers have been visiting various locations to observe the impact of parking behaviours on residents and pedestrians, with a focus on ensuring routes remain safe for children walking to and from school.

Looking ahead, the Calne Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to engage with the public through community forums. Recent discussions have included the introduction of an Emergency Hub scheme, intended to provide additional support to the local community. The police have confirmed they are currently scheduling further public consultation events, where they plan to offer additional services, including equine security marking. Residents are encouraged to monitor local police channels for updates on upcoming meeting dates and locations.
