Residents in Sutton Benger will gain access to a range of postal and banking services as The Wellesley Arms launches a weekly pop-up hub.

A village pub in Sutton Benger is set to become a vital hub for local residents with the introduction of a new weekly pop-up Post Office service. The Wellesley Arms, widely known as The Welly, will host the facility starting from Thursday, 8 October, in an effort to provide essential services directly to the heart of the community.

The pop-up service will operate every Thursday morning between 9am and 11am. The initiative aims to help local residents complete everyday tasks without the need to travel to larger neighbouring towns.

The range of services on offer will include:

Bill payments

Shopping returns

Free cash withdrawals

Cash and cheque banking

Royal Mail and Parcelforce drop-offs

Electronic gas and electricity top-ups

Mark Florey, the owner of the Inn The Sticks Pub Collection, which operates The Wellesley Arms, described the project as a move to expand the pub's role beyond traditional food and drink. He noted that the venue aims to provide a space for residents to meet, socialise and support one another, with the added benefit of practical support for their daily errands.

"We are delighted to be able to offer something that we hope will be genuinely useful to people in Sutton Benger and the surrounding villages," Mr Florey said. "A good village pub has always been about more than what is on the menu. It is somewhere people meet, catch up and feel part of the community, so bringing a useful local service into the pub felt like a natural fit."

The service is designed to be accessible to those who need to manage their postal and banking needs in a convenient, friendly environment, with the pub inviting customers to enjoy a tea or coffee while they carry out their transactions.

The Wellesley Arms is one of several country pubs managed by the Inn The Sticks group, which also includes The Langley Tap in Langley Burrell, The Neeld Arms in Grittleton, The Bull in Hinton and The King’s Arms in Didaton.
