Specialist search teams are currently scouring the Kennet and Avon Canal in Devizes for a missing 52-year-old woman last seen on Friday morning.

A major multi-agency search operation is underway in Devizes as emergency services work to locate a 52-year-old woman who has been missing since Friday morning.

Marcia was last seen in the area of Kingsmanor Wharf at approximately 8.15am on September 11. Concerns for her welfare have prompted an extensive search of the Kennet and Avon Canal, which intensified on Sunday morning.

The operation is being led by Wiltshire Police, supported by volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue. The search has been significantly bolstered by specialist teams from neighbouring regions, including Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs, Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire, Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue, and Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue.

The search teams, which were deployed at 7am on Sunday, are treating the case as high-risk. Marcia is described as being approximately 5 ft 10 inches tall and of a slim build. She has blonde hair and was last seen wearing a stripey top, dark navy or black leggings, and flip flops.

How you can help

Wiltshire Police have issued an urgent appeal for residents in the Devizes area to assist with the search efforts. Locals are being asked to carefully check their outbuildings, garages, and private gardens for any sign of the missing woman.

Additionally, those with home security systems, such as doorbell cameras or private CCTV, are encouraged to review footage captured since Friday morning. Any evidence or sightings could be critical in narrowing the search area.

Members of the public who have information regarding Marcia's whereabouts are urged to contact the police immediately. In an emergency, please dial 999. Non-urgent information can be reported via 101, quoting log number 77 of September 11.
