Police have confirmed that a 52-year-old woman reported missing from Devizes has been located safe and well following a major search operation.
A search operation for a missing Devizes woman has concluded successfully after Wiltshire Police confirmed she has been found safe and well.
The 52-year-old, identified by police only as Marcia, had been the subject of an urgent appeal since Friday morning. Her disappearance prompted a significant response from the emergency services, with focus turning towards the Kennet and Avon Canal running through the town earlier today.
Officers coordinated with volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WiSAR) to carry out extensive searches along the canal banks. The operation drew attention from the local community as crews navigated the area to locate the woman.
Following the successful conclusion of the search, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police expressed gratitude to those who assisted. They specifically thanked members of the public who came forward with sightings after the force launched a public appeal for information. The spokesperson also extended appreciation to the specialist volunteers from WiSAR and the officers who participated in the search efforts.
The force has since closed the missing person investigation, and the woman is now accounted for.
