Motorists are being warned of an eight-week closure of the A361 at Seend to allow for essential water infrastructure work.

A critical stretch of the A361 connecting Trowbridge and Devizes is set to close to all traffic for nearly two months, with officials warning that significant travel delays are likely. The closure, affecting Seend Hill, will commence on Monday, October 5, and is scheduled to remain in force until Friday, November 27.

The disruption is required to allow Wessex Water to complete a comprehensive replacement of water mains in the area. The project involves multiple road closures in the vicinity of Seend, which will impact local journeys and through-traffic between the two towns.

The following sections of road will be closed for the duration of the works:

High Street, Seend: From Seymour Lodge to the junction with Seend Hill.

Seend Hill, Seend: From the junction with High Street to Grassmere House.

Inmarsh Lane, Seend: From its junction with Seend Hill to Broomhayes Farm.

Spout Lane, Seend: From the junction with High Street for approximately 150 metres in a northerly direction.

Wiltshire Council has advised motorists to prepare for disruption and follow the signposted diversion routes. These include:

Via Seend High Street, the A361, the A350, and the A365.

Via Inmarsh Lane, Bell Hill, and the A361.

Via Spout Lane, the A365, and Seend Hill.

Residents and regular commuters are encouraged to build extra time into their journeys during the eight-week period. Further updates regarding the progress of the infrastructure works will be monitored.
