Over 1,000 properties in the Devizes area are without electricity following a fault on the SSEN network, with engineers working on site to restore supplies.
More than 1,000 homes and businesses across Wiltshire have been left without electricity this Sunday morning following a significant unplanned power cut. The outage, which has affected a large portion of the SN10 postcode area, has prompted a major response from utility provider Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN).
The disruption has impacted residents across several villages, including West Lavington, Great Cheverell and Coulston. Local facilities have also been affected, with both the Erlestoke Golf Course and a local sports centre reporting a loss of power.
SSEN engineers were deployed to the area shortly before 10am to investigate the fault. The network operator has cautioned that the nature of the issue may necessitate extensive repair work and the deployment of specialist teams to bring the grid back online. The utility firm has stated that it aims to restore power to all affected properties by 1pm today.
Residents in the affected villages are advised to check the SSEN website or contact the power network operator directly if they require further information or if they are considered vulnerable and require additional assistance during the outage.
