Organisers have called off the annual Autumn in the Park event at Hillworth Park in Devizes due to the severe weather conditions caused by Storm Austen.

A popular annual outdoor event in Devizes has been cancelled as Storm Austen brings challenging weather conditions to the region. The Autumn in the Park event, which was scheduled to take place at Hillworth Park on Saturday, 24 October, will no longer go ahead.

Event organisers confirmed the decision to cancel, citing the safety of visitors, stallholders, and the event team as their primary concern. In a statement posted to social media, the organisers explained that the forecast of heavy rain and strong winds made it impossible to proceed safely. They are currently exploring options for a possible reschedule and have encouraged attendees to monitor their official pages for future updates.

The cancellation comes as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds and heavy rain across southern England and Wales. The warning for the area was active from 10am to 9pm on Thursday, 23 October, with forecasters highlighting the potential for significant disruption to travel and local services.

The extreme weather is expected to affect road, rail, and ferry services. Authorities have advised residents across the region to prepare for potential power cuts and to take precautions against flying debris. Local households are encouraged to secure loose items such as garden furniture, trampolines, and bins to prevent damage or injury.

Travelers have been urged to check local transport timetables and road conditions before setting out, as the severe weather may cause significant delays. Flood warnings have also been issued for parts of Swindon as the storm passes through Wiltshire.
