The TG Jones store on Marlborough High Street is set to close its doors for the final time on 19 October, following a wave of closures across the retail chain.

The TG Jones branch on Marlborough High Street is set to close its doors permanently next month, marking another significant change for the town's retail landscape. The retailer has confirmed the upcoming closure, with the final day of trading scheduled for 19 October.

Customers have already begun to see clear signs of the impending shutdown, as the shopfront has been adorned with notices of a closing down sale. The branch is currently offering discounts of up to 30 per cent as the company looks to clear remaining stock.

This closure is part of a nationwide restructuring programme announced by the company's owner, Modella, following a period of challenging trading conditions. Earlier this year, the firm faced a significant cash shortfall, leading to a court-approved insolvency plan that includes the closure of approximately 150 of its 450 UK stores. The restructuring also involves substantial rent negotiations on remaining units to ensure the viability of the business moving forward.

The loss of the Marlborough site follows the recent closure of the retailer's prominent Swindon town centre shop on Regent Street, which served the community for more than 50 years and ceased operations on 13 September. The wider impact of the restructuring has been felt across the South West, with stores in Devon, Somerset, and Cornwall also among the first to be affected by the downsizing.

As the high street prepares for the departure of the brand, shoppers are reminded that the store is currently running its final sale period. The company has not provided further comment regarding the long-term future of the site or potential new tenants for the prominent High Street unit.
