Drivers warned of two-week road closure in Aldbourne for culvert repairs
By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

Oxford Street will be closed to all traffic for nearly a fortnight starting in late September to allow for essential repairs to a damaged culvert.
A stretch of Oxford Street in Aldbourne is set to close to all traffic for nearly two weeks to facilitate essential repairs to a damaged culvert. The closure, which was originally scheduled for a different date, has been confirmed by the Aldbourne Parish Council.
The affected section of the road lies between house numbers 19 and 25 on Baydon Hill. Motorists should be aware that the closure will be in effect around the clock, commencing on Monday, 28 September, and is scheduled to continue until Friday, 9 October.
Contractors tasked with the project will be required to excavate the road to access and repair the damaged infrastructure. While the council has confirmed that efforts will be made to maintain access for residents living within the immediate closure zone, officials have warned that potential delays should be anticipated given the nature of the engineering work involved.
Local school transport operators and other relevant groups have been notified of the disruption to ensure service adjustments can be managed accordingly. Residents and regular road users are advised to stay informed of any developments or potential changes to the schedule through the One Network website.
Furthermore, residents should note that subsequent roadworks are scheduled for the area. Resurfacing of Oxford Street is planned to take place during the October half-term holiday, running from Monday, 26 October, to Friday, 30 October.
