By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

The main route through Aldbourne has reopened to traffic, with further resurfacing works scheduled for the upcoming half-term break.
A road closure on Oxford Street in Aldbourne has been lifted following the completion of essential drainage improvement works. The route, which serves as a key thoroughfare for the village, reopened to traffic on the afternoon of 8 October after contractors demobilised from the site.
The project was focused on improving surface water management, with works including the installation of approximately 80 metres of new drainage infrastructure and a new highway gully. Aldbourne Parish Council confirmed that the road was fully accessible to motorists from 4pm on the day the works concluded.
While the drainage installation is complete, residents and motorists are advised that further disruption is expected in the coming weeks. The council has scheduled road resurfacing to take place during the school half-term break at the end of October.
Officials have noted that the timing of the resurfacing remains subject to change, citing potential delays depending on weather conditions. The parish council has thanked the local community for their patience and cooperation throughout the period of the road closure.
