Motorists faced severe delays on the M4 eastbound near junction 13 earlier today due to a police-led incident involving a broken-down HGV.

Drivers travelling on the M4 eastbound faced significant disruption earlier on Monday, 27 October, following a police incident near junction 13 at Chieveley and Newbury. The motorway saw all traffic temporarily held as emergency services attended to a broken-down heavy goods vehicle.

Commuters heading towards the Reading area from the west experienced delays of more than an hour during the peak of the disruption. While the incident resulted in stationary traffic for a period, authorities worked to resolve the situation and clear the carriageway to restore normal traffic flow.

Those planning journeys along the M4 corridor are advised to check local traffic reports for any residual delays before setting off, as congestion can often persist even after official road closures are lifted.
