Salisbury has launched its 2027 Business Excellence Awards, with a new category added to celebrate local heritage and legacy.

Local businesses, charities, and entrepreneurs in the Salisbury area are being encouraged to enter the 2027 Business Excellence Awards. The programme, which celebrates innovation, customer service, and community engagement, officially opened its doors for submissions following a launch event at City Hall on 30 September.

The annual awards serve as a platform to recognise the contributions of both established enterprises and emerging talent to the local economy. Organisers have confirmed that the 2027 competition includes 10 distinct categories, offering diverse opportunities for recognition across various sectors.

The categories for the 2027 awards are as follows:

Business of the Year, sponsored by Aspire Defence

Small Business of the Year, sponsored by Grist Environmental

Charity of the Year, sponsored by Bradbeers

Employee of the Year

Apprentice of the Year, sponsored by Wiltshire College

Heritage and Legacy Award (new for 2027), sponsored by Salisbury 800

Visitor Experience Award

Community Engagement Award

Excellence in Customer Service Award

New Business and Innovation Award

The introduction of the Heritage and Legacy Award marks a significant addition to the programme this year, highlighting businesses or individuals that have made long-term contributions to the fabric of Salisbury. The awards are sponsored by SGS and are open to members of the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Small Businesses, and eligible Business Improvement District (BID) levy payers.

Previous winners, including representatives from Lawntech and 2026 New Business of the Year recipient A Little Place, attended the launch to discuss how participation has supported their development. Joanna Vann, founder of A Little Place, noted that the application process provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on business milestones and future goals.

Organisers are advising interested parties to prepare their entries early due to an expected high volume of applications. Detailed information regarding eligibility criteria, the judging process, and specific deadlines is available on the official Salisbury Business Excellence Awards website.
