A Salisbury-based business support firm is partnering with a specialist charity to help local employers better understand and support neurodivergent staff.

A Salisbury firm is encouraging local business leaders to broaden their approach to staff development by focusing on the benefits of neurodiversity. Caboodle Business Support, based in the city, has announced a partnership with the Bournemouth-based charity Autism Unlimited to host a practical workshop aimed at helping managers build more inclusive and productive teams.

The event follows a growing recognition that traditional workplace structures may not always cater to the diverse ways in which individuals process information. By making relatively small adjustments to day-to-day operations, employers can often unlock significant potential in staff members who have autism, dyslexia or ADHD.

Ian Rowe, director and personal coach at Caboodle, highlighted the importance of viewing employees as individuals. 'Like many small businesses, we have learned that understanding people as individuals is enormously important. Everyone has different strengths, different challenges and different ways of working,' he said.

The upcoming workshop, titled Building Inclusive Teams – Neurodiversity for Employers , is scheduled for Wednesday, 25 November 2026. It will be held at the Old Fire Station Enterprise Centre in Salisbury. The session is designed for business owners, human resources professionals and managers who are looking for practical guidance rather than complex theoretical frameworks.

The curriculum will address common barriers in the workplace and provide strategies for supporting neurodivergent employees. A notable feature of the session is its focus on the often-overlooked needs of employees who are parents of neurodivergent children, offering advice on how organisations can assist these staff members in balancing professional and personal responsibilities.

'We are not expecting anyone to become an expert in three hours,' Mr Rowe added. 'What we hope is that people will leave with a better understanding of neurodiversity, perhaps a few assumptions challenged, and some straightforward ideas they can put into practice in their own organisations.'

The session will be led by Becs Tridgell, an inclusion training specialist from Autism Unlimited, with support from the Caboodle team. Registration and networking will begin at 9.30am, followed by the workshop running from 10am until 1pm. Tickets are priced at £30 per person, which includes VAT and booking fees. Those interested in attending can find further information and secure their places at caboodlesupport.eventbrite.co.uk.
