Life-saving bleed control kit installed at Salisbury community centre

A new emergency bleed control kit is now available 24 hours a day at the Bemerton Heath Centre in Salisbury following a community-led fundraising initiative.
A new piece of life-saving equipment has been installed at the Bemerton Heath Centre, providing the Salisbury community with 24-hour access to a specialist bleed control kit. The kit is designed to provide immediate assistance in managing severe blood loss from incidents such as road traffic accidents or other emergencies, potentially bridging the critical three to five-minute window before professional emergency services can arrive.
The installation of the unit was the result of a local campaign spearheaded by resident Spencer Mulholland. Emphasising the importance of the equipment, Mr Mulholland noted that having such kits in high-traffic public areas is a vital step for community safety.
Produced by HeartSafe, the kit includes specialised medical supplies intended for use by members of the public during a crisis. While the equipment is designed to be accessible and does not require formal medical training to operate, organisers are keen to ensure residents feel confident using the devices if the need arises.
To support this, a free training session is scheduled to take place at the Bemerton Heath Centre on November 3, 2026. The demonstration, which runs from 5pm to 6pm, will be led by Carolyn Port of Winterbury Training. The session is open to all members of the public, and attendees are welcome to turn up on the day without the need for prior booking.
