Wiltshire Creative is seeking support for its latest Christmas appeal, which aims to provide 1,000 pantomime tickets to local families facing disadvantage.

Wiltshire Creative has launched its 2026 Christmas Appeal, titled Be A Star For Giving , with the target of gifting 1,000 tickets to this year's production of Beauty and the Beast at the Salisbury Playhouse.

The annual campaign seeks to ensure that children and families in Salisbury and South Wiltshire, who might otherwise miss out, have the opportunity to experience the magic of a live pantomime. According to the charity, approximately 30 per cent of young people in the local area are growing up in challenging circumstances, including those in care, families receiving free school meals, or those relying on various forms of support.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Creative highlighted the significance of the project, stating: A pantomime isn't just a show - it's a spark. It's the pure joy and wonder a child feels as the curtain rises and the lights glow. It's a memory that might last a lifetime.

Last year's appeal was a significant success, raising approximately £32,000 and funding over 1,000 tickets. These were distributed to various groups, including young carers, refugee families, children with disabilities and households dealing with financial insecurity. To ensure support reaches those most in need, Wiltshire Creative works alongside local organisations such as Salisbury Pantry, Youth Action Wiltshire, and Five Rivers Foster Care.

The charity has confirmed that it has partnered with donors who have pledged to match every pound raised, effectively doubling the impact of each contribution made by the public.

How to support the appeal

The charity has outlined several ways for the community to get involved:

Online: Donations can be made through the official website at wiltshirecreative.co.uk/support/christmas-appeal .

By Phone: Supporters can call 01722 320333 to contribute.

In Person: Donations are accepted at the Salisbury Playhouse box office, which is open daily between 10am and 4pm.

Contributions of varying amounts make a tangible difference. A £20 donation can introduce a child to pantomime for the first time, £50 allows a family in poverty to attend together, and £100 can provide a memorable day out for a group of young carers or fostered children.
