Three Salisbury pubs join national poppy appeal with limited-edition glassware
By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

Pub-goers in Salisbury can support this year's Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal by purchasing commemorative glasses at three local venues.
Three pubs in Salisbury are taking part in a national fundraising campaign to support the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal. The Avon Brewery, the Pelican, and the Huntsman are among the Marston’s venues across the country participating in the initiative, which runs until Remembrance Sunday.
Customers visiting the participating establishments have the opportunity to purchase limited-edition commemorative pint and half-pint glasses. The glassware features artwork designed by Jane Wilkes, an Army veteran and artist who received support from the Royal British Legion during her recovery from breast cancer.
The campaign, known as Raise a Glass, sees a portion of the proceeds from every glass sold donated directly to the charity. Pint glasses are priced at £3.50, with £1.26 from each sale going to the appeal. Half-pint glasses are available for £3, with 85p per glass being donated.
Ms Wilkes, who served 15 years in the Army’s Adjutant General’s Corps and completed tours in locations including Iraq and Afghanistan, described the collaboration as an honour. She noted that the charity's support was vital during her recovery, helping her regain confidence and transition into her work as an artist.
In addition to the sale of commemorative glasses, a mobile 3D-printed poppy is visiting selected Marston’s venues as part of a national initiative to raise awareness for the Armed Forces community. This element of the campaign aims to encourage reflection on the service and sacrifice of veterans and current personnel.
The partnership, which last year raised more than £128,000 nationally, provides financial aid to members of the Armed Forces community and their families. Residents looking to support the campaign can find further information regarding participating venues and local activities on the official Marston’s website.
