Storms Austen and Boelo cause major disruption to rail services in Wiltshire
By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

Train travellers between Salisbury and Yeovil face significant disruption as fallen trees block lines and force the cancellation of services.
Storms Austen and Boelo have caused significant disruption to railway services across Wiltshire today, 23 October, with fallen trees blocking key lines and impacting travel between Salisbury, Yeovil Junction and London Waterloo.
South Western Railway (SWR) has confirmed that lines are currently blocked at Sherborne, while a second fallen tree near Bruton has severed the usual diversion route via Westbury. The impact of these obstructions has resulted in a series of delays, cancellations and service revisions across the affected network.
Passengers travelling between Exeter St Davids, Yeovil Junction and London Waterloo are advised that services are subject to disruption. Specifically, trains operating between Salisbury and Yeovil Junction via Westbury have been cancelled. To assist those affected, South Western Railway is currently arranging replacement bus services between Yeovil Junction and Salisbury.
The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for the region, which remain in force from 23 October until 25 October. Travellers are strongly advised to check the status of their journey before setting out and should allow additional time for their travel, as further revisions to the timetable may occur throughout the day.
