A powerful film detailing the rescue of animals from war-torn Ukraine will be shown at a special event in Dinton this October, featuring appearances from the charity's founder and actor Peter Egan.
A local venue near Salisbury is set to host an exclusive screening of the documentary Unbreakable , a film that captures the harrowing yet inspiring efforts to rescue animals trapped in conflict zones across Ukraine.
The event, which takes place at The Woods at Oakley in Dinton on October 3, highlights the work of the Devon-based charity Nowzad. Founded by former Royal Marines commando Pen Farthing, the organisation has dedicated nearly two decades to animal welfare in areas of extreme conflict. Since the outbreak of war in Ukraine in 2022, the charity has focused its efforts on moving pets from frontline areas to safety and supporting local sanctuaries with vital supplies and veterinary programmes.
The 45-minute documentary, produced by Andrew Telling of Orange Planet Pictures, chronicles a recent mission to the region and features actor and charity patron Peter Egan. The film explores both the human and animal cost of the conflict, while documenting the resilience of those working to provide shelter under fire.
Reflecting on the experience, Mr Egan described the process as both challenging and life-affirming. He said: "Making this film was both devastating and inspiring. Devastating to witness the human cost this war has brought upon Ukraine, and inspiring to see the extraordinary commitment of Ukraine to determine its own future. In the midst of this horror you have charities like Nowzad doing everything they can to ease the burden on humans and animals."
Guests attending the Dinton screening will have the opportunity to hear directly from the people involved in the mission. The event begins at 5.30pm with drinks, canapés, and popcorn, followed by the film screening at 7pm. A question-and-answer session will follow, featuring Pen Farthing, Peter Egan, and filmmaker Andrew Telling. A representative from Horse Paradise, a Ukrainian sanctuary that partners with Nowzad, is also expected to speak about their ongoing efforts on the ground.
The Salisbury screening is a key date in a wider tour, with further events scheduled in London and Exeter. Tickets for the Dinton event, which carries the postcode SP3 5EU, are available to the public via Eventbrite at nowzadfilmsalisbury.eventbrite.co.uk.
