West Swindon Tesco reopens following major electrical fault

A Tesco supermarket in West Swindon has resumed normal operations after being forced to close due to an electrical failure that disabled the store's checkout systems.
A Tesco store in West Swindon reopened for business earlier today after being forced to close its doors for over an hour yesterday due to a significant electrical fault. The disruption occurred when a technical failure rendered the store's tills and self-service checkouts completely inoperable.
Shoppers arriving at the branch on Wednesday, October 14, were met with notices on the entrance doors informing them that the store would remain closed for an indefinite period. Staff confirmed that the sudden loss of power to the checkout systems made it impossible to process transactions, leaving the management with no alternative but to pause operations.
While the store faced a total loss of checkout capabilities, the site avoided significant stock losses. The building's internal battery systems successfully maintained power to the fridges and freezers, protecting fresh food and drink inventories from spoilage during the outage.
An emergency electrician was dispatched to the site to address the fault. The store has since confirmed that power has been restored to all systems and customers are able to shop as normal. No specific cause for the electrical failure has been provided by the retailer beyond the initial confirmation of a fault.
