A local couple has successfully secured a refund of over £8,000 from the Gipsy Lane Wickes branch following an eight-month wait.

A Swindon couple has finally received a refund of more than £8,000 after a protracted dispute with home improvement retailer Wickes. Salyn and Steve Manning had spent eight months attempting to recoup the payment for a cancelled walk-in shower installation from the store on Gipsy Lane.

The issue arose after the couple decided against proceeding with the installation. Although the couple requested their money back, the retailer maintained that the funds had already been returned. However, the Mannings' bank confirmed that the payment had been sent to a credit card that did not match the one originally used for the transaction.

The couple spent nearly nine months attempting to rectify the administrative error, dealing with the retailer's insistence that the transaction had been completed correctly. After seeking assistance, the dispute was brought to the attention of the store's management. Shortly after further enquiries were made, Mrs Manning was contacted on Monday and informed that the refund had been processed to the correct account.

Mrs Manning described the experience as incredibly stressful, noting her relief that the matter has finally been brought to a close.

A spokesperson for Wickes issued an apology to the customers for the inconvenience caused by the delay. The company confirmed that it had conducted an investigation into the discrepancy and worked directly with the customers to ensure the refund was successfully returned. The retailer has since confirmed that the case is now fully resolved.
