Education programmes previously run by the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust will move to the charity LTSB following the trust's recent liquidation.
Education programmes and mentoring services previously delivered by the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust are set to continue under a new partnership with the charity LTSB. The move follows the liquidation of the trust earlier this month, a process currently being overseen by a Swindon-based insolvency firm.
For nearly two decades, the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust has operated across the UK, providing young people with access to athlete-led mentoring and confidence-building initiatives. Under the new arrangement, these established programmes will be integrated into the wider offerings provided by LTSB, which specialises in employability and school-to-work pathways.
Martin Talbot, chief executive of LTSB, said that the transition marks a significant moment for the charity as it seeks to provide a more comprehensive support journey for young people. He noted that the expertise developed by the trust in building resilience, communication and confidence remains highly valued by employers.
Bringing these programmes into LTSB allows us to support young people from an earlier age, building the foundations they need before they even begin thinking about their future careers, Mr Talbot added. We are honoured to be entrusted with this legacy and are committed to ensuring it grows for many years to come.
Dame Kelly Holmes, who founded the trust to harness the skills of elite athletes for youth development, expressed her pride in the organisation's impact. Regarding the decision to move the programmes to LTSB, she stated that the transition ensures the work will continue to reach those who need it most.
I am incredibly proud of everything the trust has achieved and of the thousands of young people whose lives have been changed, Dame Kelly said. This is not the end of our work. It is the continuation of everything we set out to achieve, and I could not be more pleased to see that legacy continue through joining with LTSB.
The integration aims to combine the personal development model of the athlete mentors with LTSB’s existing employer partnerships, creating what organisers describe as a unified support journey. Stakeholders have confirmed that programme delivery for schools and students will remain consistent during the transition, ensuring there is no disruption for those currently engaged with the services.
