Wiltshire Police and local authorities have launched an appeal after decomposing raw meat was discovered dumped in bushes near Catherine Wayte Primary School.

Wiltshire Police have issued a public health warning after a significant quantity of rotting meat was discovered discarded in a public area near a Swindon primary school.

Officers were alerted to the incident on September 27 following reports of a foul odour emanating from the vicinity of the Elstree Way Roundabout. Upon arrival, police located several bags of decomposing raw meat abandoned in shrubbery positioned directly behind a set of public benches. The site is situated only a few metres from the grounds of Catherine Wayte Primary School.

Haydon Wick Council, which coordinated a clean-up operation to remove the hazardous material, has confirmed that the incident created a significant public health concern. The removal of the waste has placed an avoidable strain on council resources and public funding, according to a spokesperson for the local authority.

Local officials are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the dumping or who has information regarding those responsible to come forward. Investigators are specifically appealing for any members of the public who possess CCTV or doorbell camera footage from the area surrounding the Elstree Way Roundabout that may have captured suspicious activity on or around September 27.

Information can be reported to Wiltshire Police or directly to Haydon Wick Council. Residents are reminded not to handle or approach similar dumped waste if encountered in public spaces, but to report the location to the council to ensure safe disposal by professional teams.
