Road closures announced across Swindon for Remembrance events
By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

Drivers are warned of temporary road closures and diversions in Swindon, Upper Stratton, Wroughton and Highworth to accommodate upcoming Remembrance parades.
Residents and motorists across Swindon are advised to plan their journeys in advance as a series of road closures will be in place to facilitate Remembrance Day events next weekend. Several areas of the borough will see temporary restrictions to ensure the safety of participants and the public during the commemorations.
Swindon Town Centre
In the town centre, closures will be in effect from 11pm on Saturday, November 7, until 12 noon on Sunday, November 8. The affected areas include Commercial Road and Temple Street, specifically the sections between Granville Street and Regent Street, as well as Temple Street at the entrance to the Cenotaph. These closures are necessary to accommodate a memorial day parade.
Upper Stratton
The Remembrance Parade and Service in Upper Stratton is expected to cause localised delays on Sunday, November 8. Roads including Green Road and St Philips Road will be closed to traffic between 10.30am and 11.30am. The closures will span the route from the Upper Stratton Baptist Church to the Royal British Legion on St Philip's Road, where the service will be held. A diversion route will be clearly signposted for motorists during this period.
Wroughton and Highworth
Parades in Wroughton and Highworth will also require temporary traffic management. In Wroughton, Wharf Road, Church Hill and the High Street will be closed between 10.20am and 11.20am. Meanwhile, in Highworth, closures will be active from 10.50am to 11.30am on November 8. This will affect Cherry Orchard from its junction with The Mews, the High Street, and a section of Swindon Street from its junction with High Street up to the War Memorial.
Swindon’s main Remembrance Sunday Service is scheduled to take place at the Cenotaph in Regent Circus on November 8 at 10.45am, followed by an Armistice Day service on Wednesday, November 11, at 10.55am.
