The family of Louis Lobban, a Swindon man who passed away last year, has launched a fundraiser to create a memorial space for his two young children.
Tributes have been paid to a 29-year-old Swindon father, described as a quick-witted and charismatic man, almost a year after his death. Louis Lobban was a devoted father to his two children, aged three and six at the time of his passing, and was well-known to those around him for his enthusiasm for aviation, Formula 1, and his practical skills in fixing and building things.
Mr Lobban was reported missing last year, and his body was tragically discovered on Wednesday, October 22, in a wooded area near the Snodshill Roundabout, just off Dorcan Way. Wiltshire Police confirmed at the time that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
As the anniversary of his passing approaches, his wife, Lauren, has shared an emotional tribute to her husband, remembering him as a man who was deeply engaged in family life. She noted that he was not only a doting father but also an entrepreneurial spirit who had achieved his goal of business leadership at a young age.
In a heartfelt statement, she said: He was the most incredible person. He was exceptionally clever, charismatic, funny, deeply loving and caring. He always said that being a husband and dad were the most important achievements and roles to him.
To honour his memory, his family is currently raising funds to install a memorial bench and a plaque in a peaceful setting. The initiative aims to provide a dedicated, sacred space where his children—now aged four and seven—can spend time and remember their father. The appeal has already seen significant support from the local community.
A final inquest hearing is scheduled for September 18 to formally conclude the details surrounding his death and determine the official cause.
