West Swindon Library is undergoing a refurbishment to repair flood damage and will soon move back to its original ground-floor location in the Link Centre.

Work is currently underway to refurbish the West Swindon Library, with plans to relocate the facility back to its original ground-floor home within the Link Centre. The library has been operating from a temporary space upstairs following significant flood damage in previous years.

As part of the ongoing renovation, the site is being prepared to join Swindon Borough Council’s expanding network of Community Hubs. Once the project is complete, the library will offer a broader range of support and advice services alongside its traditional borrowing functions.

The council has confirmed that the library will return to the ground floor once the refurbishment is finalised. This transition follows the success of other Community Hubs, such as those at Park Library and Central Library, which have collectively provided assistance to around 600 local residents.

Despite the disruption caused by the building work, the service has remained accessible to the public. The temporary library space currently located upstairs continues to operate, having already issued 5,139 books and registered 139 new members since the interim arrangements were put in place. Residents are encouraged to continue using the temporary service while the improvements to the ground-floor facility are carried out.
