The Wroughton War Memorial has been cleaned in preparation for the village's annual Remembrance service taking place on Sunday 8 November.

The Wroughton War Memorial has been cleaned ahead of this year's annual Remembrance service. A team from the Wroughton and Wichelstowe Parish Council has carried out the maintenance work to prepare the site for the upcoming commemorative event.

Standing prominently in front of the local library on rising ground, the memorial features a tall Portland stone cross set upon a tapering octagonal shaft. The structure rests on a chamfered square plinth, with a three-stepped square base and five broad steps leading up from the pavement.

First erected in 1924, the monument was subsequently updated to include tributes to those who lost their lives in the Second World War. It remains a key focal point for the village's annual tributes to the armed forces.

The service is scheduled to take place on Sunday 8 November. The commemorative parade will depart from the parish church at 10.35am, with the wreath-laying ceremony set to follow at 10.50am. The parish council has encouraged members of the community to attend the event to honour the memory of those who have served. Further details and updates regarding the service are available via the parish council's official Facebook page.
