Swindon food hygiene: Latest ratings for schools and restaurants revealed
By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

Almost every business inspected by Swindon Borough Council in October achieved a top food hygiene rating, including several schools and new arrivals at the Designer Outlet.
Food hygiene standards in Swindon remained robust throughout October, as council inspectors awarded the highest possible marks to the vast majority of local premises assessed. Out of 40 businesses inspected across the town, 38 received a five-star rating, while the remaining two were awarded four stars, indicating that standards remain high across the board.
The inspections spanned a wide variety of sectors, including restaurants, retail outlets, schools, and elderly care facilities. The results provide a clear snapshot of hygiene compliance for residents across the borough.
New arrivals and town centre favourites
The Designer Outlet Swindon saw positive results for its latest additions, with both the Chopstix Noodle Bar and SpudBros Express achieving top marks during their inaugural inspections. These newcomers join a list of established local venues that also secured five-star ratings, such as Fabio's Ristorante Italiano in Old Town, Mabel's Old Town, and The Drink Valley in Fleet Square.
The takeaway sector also showed consistent performance. Five-star ratings were awarded to a range of local providers, including Beenies Caribbean Cuisine, Tennessee Chicken, KFC, and several pizza and kebab outlets, such as Liden Pizza and Kebab and Swindon Pizza.
Other retail and service businesses receiving top marks included Budgens in Highworth, Red Down Farm Shop and Tea Room, Lidl, and T H Burroughs Family Butchers.
Schools and care settings
Educational institutions in the area were highlighted for their continued high standards. Catering operations at several schools were awarded five-star ratings, including Grange Junior School, Southfield Junior School, Highworth Warneford School, Brimble Hill Primary School, Lethbridge Primary School, Brook Field Primary School, and Shaw Ridge School.
Care and childcare facilities also performed well in the recent assessments, with Church View Nursing Home, Kingsmead Care Home, and Little Pippins Pre-School among those receiving the highest score.
Rating overview
While the vast majority of premises achieved a perfect score, Blue Sky Chinese Takeaway in Stratton St Margaret and the Singapore Asian Store Limited in the town centre were the only businesses to receive four stars. Under the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, four stars still denotes that a business has 'good' hygiene standards.
With 95 per cent of all premises inspected in October achieving the maximum rating, Swindon businesses continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining safe and clean environments for their customers and students alike.
