A popular South Indian restaurant in Swindon has successfully regained a five-star food hygiene rating following a recent inspection.
Chennai Dosa, located near Regent Circus, has been awarded a top food hygiene rating of five out of five by inspectors. This marks a significant turnaround for the restaurant, which had previously been issued a one-star rating by food hygiene experts in June of this year.
The latest inspection, carried out on 16 September, confirmed that the premises now meet the highest standards for food handling, hygiene, and management. Inspectors concluded that there are no significant issues regarding the condition of the building or the practices used to manage and serve food on-site.
The restaurant, known for its focus on South Indian cuisine and dosa pancakes, saw its rating drop from a three - classed as Generally Satisfactory - to a one earlier this summer. The subsequent improvement to the highest tier of five indicates that the business has addressed the concerns raised by the local authority inspectors.
In a statement posted to social media, a spokesperson for the restaurant said: "We are delighted to share that Chennai Dosa Swindon has received a fantastic five-star food hygiene rating. A huge thank you to our wonderful team for their dedication, care, and commitment to maintaining the highest standards."
Amuthan Viji, representing the restaurant, also thanked customers for their continued support throughout the period, noting that public reviews served as motivation for the staff to improve their service. The restaurant remains a popular choice for many locals, holding a four-star rating on Google and a 4.1 rating on Trip Advisor based on hundreds of customer reviews.
