Wanborough pub closes for Sunday service after power outage

The Cross Keys in Wanborough was forced to cancel its Sunday carvery after a severe storm left the pub without power overnight.
A popular Wanborough pub has been forced to close its doors today following a major power failure caused by the severe weather that swept across the region on Saturday evening. The Cross Keys announced it would not be able to trade this Sunday, marking the first time the current owners have been unable to host their well-known carvery service.
The disruption began shortly before 8pm on Saturday, October 24, when electricity supplies were cut to the pub and parts of the surrounding Wanborough and Redlands area. Reports indicate that the outage affected approximately 449 customers across 109 postcodes.
Staff had initially hoped that power would be restored in time for Sunday morning operations. However, the management confirmed that they remained without sufficient electricity to operate safely, forcing the difficult decision to cancel bookings for hundreds of customers who had reserved tables.
That storm really got us and we have had a power cut since just before 8pm last night. We really hoped the power would have been restored this morning so we could have continued with our famous Sunday carvery but unfortunately we are still without some power.
The pub management expressed their regret to those affected, noting that Sundays are consistently among their busiest trading days of the week. They have asked for the understanding of their customers as they manage the fallout from the unexpected closure.
Residents and business owners in the area are advised to monitor official energy provider updates for the latest information on supply restoration as repairs continue across the affected network.
