Passengers face delays and cancellations on train services between Swindon and Chippenham today following an emergency track safety inspection.

Rail passengers travelling between Swindon and Chippenham are facing significant disruption today as Great Western Railway (GWR) carries out an urgent safety inspection of the tracks. The issues have impacted services travelling towards London Paddington, with trains being forced to run at a reduced speed through the affected area.

GWR confirmed the disruption is expected to last until at least 12.30pm. While many services remain operational, commuters are being advised to expect delays of up to 20 minutes on affected routes. The operator has also confirmed that specific services from Swindon to London Paddington were cancelled as a result of the inspection, including the 11.40am and 11.51am departures.

Passengers are encouraged to check the latest journey information via the GWR tracker before travelling, as the situation may continue to impact the schedule through the early afternoon. National Rail workers have been deployed to the site to conduct the safety checks.
