Motorists travelling near Highworth are being warned of significant travel delays on October 21 due to upcoming carriageway repairs.

Drivers heading through Highworth have been advised to prepare for significant disruption this month as essential roadworks are scheduled to take place. A section of the road between the county boundary and High Street in Kempsford is set to be closed to traffic on Wednesday, October 21, for planned carriageway patching works.

The closure is scheduled to remain in force from 7:30am until 5pm. During this time, a signed diversion route will be in operation, spanning more than 26 kilometres. Motorists are being advised that the detour, which will take traffic via Cricklade Road and Lechlade Road, is expected to add approximately 38 minutes to journey times.

Gloucestershire County Council, which is responsible for the maintenance project, has implemented a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order to facilitate the work. While local access to the area may be affected, officials have confirmed that no public footpaths will be closed during the repair period. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance to account for the expected delays throughout the day.
