Great Western Hospital warns of further weekend car park closures
By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

Patients and visitors at Great Western Hospital are being advised to allow extra travel time as resurfacing works on the north car park continue through late September.
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has issued a fresh warning to patients and visitors, urging them to plan their journeys carefully as essential resurfacing work continues at the Swindon site. The ongoing maintenance, which is taking place in the hospital's north car park, will see closures enforced over two upcoming weekends in September.
The north car park will be inaccessible to vehicles from 8pm on Friday evenings until 6am on the following Monday. The work is scheduled for the weekends of September 19-20 and September 26-27. Hospital leadership has apologised for the disruption and advised those attending appointments to factor in additional time to secure a parking space, or to use public transport where possible.
To help mitigate the impact of the closures, the Trust has confirmed that extra parking capacity is being made available in several locations across the site. These include the Commonhead car park, the on-site Co-op nursery car park, and the Brunel Treatment Centre car park situated at the rear of the hospital. The west car park will continue to operate as normal throughout the works.
This phase of the project follows earlier maintenance carried out in early September. The hospital trust remains focused on completing the improvements to the parking infrastructure while attempting to minimise the inconvenience to those attending medical appointments.
