Motorists are advised to plan for overnight disruptions later this week as two A419 slip roads close for essential electrical works.

Drivers travelling on the A419 in Swindon are being urged to prepare for disruption this week as National Highways carries out essential electrical maintenance. Two slip roads are scheduled to close overnight, which may affect journeys towards the hospital and surrounding areas.

The A419 southbound entry slip road from Lady Lane at the Cold Harbour Junction will be closed for eight hours. This closure is set to take place from 9pm on Thursday, 29 October, until 5am on Friday, 30 October. Motorists heading southbound are advised to follow a diversion via the A4311, B4143, and A4312, allowing them to rejoin the A419 at the White Hart Junction.

Simultaneously, the A419 northbound exit slip road at the Highworth Road junction will also be closed during the same eight-hour window. Traffic affected by this closure will be redirected via the A419 towards Lady Lane, then directed along the A4311 Cricklade Road, Beechcroft Road, and Ermin Street to reach Highworth Road.

A spokesperson for National Highways has advised motorists to allow extra time for their journeys during these closures, particularly if they are travelling towards the Great Western Hospital. Drivers are encouraged to follow all signed diversion routes to avoid unnecessary delays.
