More than 40 households in Swindon have been left without power on Halloween evening due to a fault on the local network.

Over 40 homes in the SN1 postcode area of Swindon were left without power on the evening of Halloween. The disruption, which occurred on October 31, impacted households on several streets including Swindon Road, Prospect Hill, Western Street and Leighfield Close.

Residents reported that electricity supplies failed suddenly at approximately 4.50pm. Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSEN) has confirmed that the outage is the result of a fault on their local infrastructure.

A spokesperson for the network operator indicated that engineers have been dispatched to assess the damage. While the company stated that issues of this nature are often resolved through minor repairs or a simple fuse replacement at a nearby substation, they were unable to provide a firm timeframe for power restoration until an initial assessment at the scene had been completed.

Households in the affected area were advised to remain prepared for potential delays in reconnection should the fault prove to be more complex than an initial reset.
