By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

Following recent stormy weather, the Met Office predicts a shift to calmer, drier conditions for Swindon, with sunny intervals expected throughout the coming week.
Swindon is set for a change in fortunes as the recent unsettled, stormy weather gives way to a period of calmer and drier conditions. According to the latest Met Office outlook, residents can expect a string of days with sunny spells, although the shift in weather will bring a sharp drop in overnight temperatures.
The current forecast indicates that Friday will begin with patches of low cloud, which are expected to clear to allow for sunny periods. Daytime temperatures are set to peak around 14C. While the day is expected to remain relatively mild, the evening will see temperatures dip towards 7C by late night, with light winds ranging from 4mph to 7mph.
As the weekend approaches, the pattern of overnight fog followed by brighter intervals will become more established. Saturday morning is expected to see fog lingering until around 10am, before giving way to clear conditions with temperatures reaching 13C. Sunday, 1 November, will follow a similar trend, with fog likely to persist through the morning before sunny intervals emerge from 11am onwards.
The start of the new week on Monday, 2 November, will see cloud increasing, though sunny intervals are still expected to break through. Temperatures will remain consistent at around 11C during the day. Residents should be prepared for a slightly breezier start to the week, with wind gusts potentially reaching 25mph around midday.
The outlook for the remainder of the week shows a mix of cloud and sunny intervals, with temperatures generally hovering between 6C and 11C. Notably, the current hourly forecast for the week ahead does not include any rain, offering a period of relief for those looking to get outdoors after the recent wet spell.
Key weather expectations for the week ahead:
Weekend conditions: Generally dry with sunny spells, though early morning fog is a high probability.
Temperature range: Daily highs will hover between 10C and 14C, with overnight lows dropping to between 4C and 8C.
Wind: Generally light, though gusts may pick up on Monday, potentially reaching 25mph.
Rainfall: No significant rainfall is currently forecast for the coming week.
While the long-range outlook into early November carries a lower level of certainty, the current data suggests the dry spell is likely to continue through to at least the end of the week, providing stable conditions for the local area.
