Wiltshire Police have launched an appeal for information after three men fled the scene of an attempted moped theft in Swindon. Officers were called to Reading Street shortly after 1am on October 1 following reports of suspicious activity.
Upon arrival, police discovered that suspects had been attempting to access a moped. The individuals were disturbed by the officers and subsequently fled the scene on foot. During their escape, the group abandoned several items, including electric bikes and various tools, all of which have since been seized by the police as part of the ongoing investigation.
The force has released CCTV footage in a bid to identify three men they wish to speak with regarding the incident. Two of the suspects were recorded on camera navigating the stairwell of a nearby parking garage, while a third individual was captured on CCTV walking along the high street in the town centre later that evening.
Wiltshire Police are urging members of the public who may have been in the area at the time or who recognise the men to contact them immediately. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting the crime reference number 54260118606.
