Neighbourhood policing teams have been conducting targeted speed checks and vehicle compliance patrols across Swindon throughout the week.

Drivers in Swindon have been subject to increased scrutiny this week as local police teams ramped up speed monitoring and road safety operations. Officers from the Stratton, Central Swindon North and West Swindon Neighbourhood Policing Teams have been patrolling a variety of locations to engage with motorists and enforce traffic regulations.

The initiative, which took place throughout the week, was designed to both improve road safety and address community concerns regarding driving standards. According to Wiltshire Police, the operation involved a mix of education and formal enforcement.

For those travelling slightly above the speed limit, officers provided verbal advice and information on the importance of adhering to road restrictions. However, the patrols also resulted in formal action for more serious offences. Several motorists were issued with traffic offence reports after officers discovered vehicles being used unlawfully, specifically identifying those without valid road tax or a current MOT certificate.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "During these checks, officers engaged with motorists to promote safer driving and help improve road safety for all road users. These patrols not only address traffic-related concerns raised by the community but also provide a valuable police presence, increasing visibility and offering reassurance to local residents."

The force highlighted that these checks are part of an ongoing effort to ensure all vehicles on local roads meet the required legal and safety standards. Drivers are reminded to check their documentation, including tax and MOT status, to avoid potential enforcement action during future police operations.
