Defender Kaelan Majekodunmi has become a key figure for Swindon Town this season, with the former Australian youth international attributing his rapid progress to a focused approach and the team's new mental performance sessions.

Kaelan Majekodunmi has established himself as an essential part of the Swindon Town defensive line this season, overcoming expectations that he would spend the year primarily as a developmental prospect. The former Australian youth international, who joined the club after a successful summer trial, has already started nine of the club's 13 League Two fixtures.

His rapid rise was prompted by injuries to senior members of the squad, but Majekodunmi has since cemented his place in the starting XI. Sources indicate that his consistent performances have been strong enough to secure his position even if the rest of the defensive unit were fully fit.

Reflecting on his development during his debut campaign in Wiltshire, Majekodunmi said that his focus has remained on incremental improvement. 'This has been a really good season for me. I am just trying to improve in every game and give my best for the team,' he said. 'I did not want to think too far ahead when I arrived. I just tried to know my role and do what I could do to help the team.'

Beyond his physical contributions on the pitch, Majekodunmi credited the squad's recent engagement with sports psychology as a significant factor in the team's evolution. Manager Ian Holloway introduced weekly sessions with a performance coach to help the players manage pressure and improve internal team dynamics.

The defender noted that such work is often overlooked in professional football but has provided tangible benefits for the group. 'I think those sessions have been really good. As an athlete, it is always important to work on the mental side of things, not just the physical aspects. That stuff is neglected in the game, so the work that we have been doing has been very beneficial to the team,' he added.

As Swindon looks to build upon recent tactical adjustments, the contribution of younger players like Majekodunmi, supported by these psychological initiatives, remains a focal point for the club's trajectory in the league.
