Swindon Town suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Rochdale after a late goal and a red card for Kaelan Majekodunmi compounded their recent struggles.

Swindon Town's search for an away win continued with disappointment on Tuesday night as a late goal handed Rochdale a 1-0 victory. In a match defined by defensive resolve and a late numerical disadvantage, Ian Holloway's side left the Crown Oil Arena empty-handed.

Facing a significant injury crisis, Swindon manager Ian Holloway reshuffled his side, making three changes to the starting eleven. Tom Nichols, Billy Kirkman, and Antwoine Hackford were brought in to replace Ollie Clarke, Joseph Hungbo, and Paul Glatzel, as the team adopted a disciplined 4-4-2 formation designed to frustrate the hosts.

The tactical approach bore fruit in the early stages, with Swindon successfully disrupting Rochdale's rhythm. Anthony Munda created an early opening by intercepting a loose pass, though a subsequent free kick from James Ball proved fruitless. Swindon maintained their pressure, with Aaron Drinan firing a sharp effort narrowly wide of the target in the 13th minute.

As the match progressed, Swindon continued to defend with organisation, limiting Rochdale to few clear-cut chances. Despite their efforts, the side's well-documented struggle in front of goal away from home remained a point of focus. The visitors looked to be holding out for at least a point, but the balance of play shifted following the hour mark as Rochdale began to exert more pressure.

The turning point arrived in the 86th minute when Kaelan Majekodunmi was shown a second yellow card for pulling back Cian Hayes. Reduced to ten men, the visitors struggled to contain the hosts' final push. Moments later, the pressure told as Hayes headed in the winning goal, securing all three points for Rochdale.

The defeat extends Swindon's challenging run on the road, where the side has now gone 630 minutes without finding the back of the net. While the defensive performance demonstrated resilience under difficult circumstances, the result leaves Town with just one point from their recent travels.
