Motorists are being warned of significant road closures across Swindon this Sunday as the annual Half Marathon returns to the town.

Residents and motorists in Swindon should prepare for travel disruption this Sunday, September 27, as the town hosts the 2026 Swindon Half Marathon. A series of rolling road closures will be in place throughout the morning to ensure the safety of participants as they complete the 21-kilometre course.

Swindon Borough Council has implemented a temporary traffic order that mandates closures across several key routes between 8am and 12.30pm. Drivers are strongly advised to plan their journeys in advance to avoid these areas, as access will be strictly restricted while runners are on the course.

B4006 Dorcan Way between Coate and Kingfisher Drive Roundabout

Organisers have confirmed that the race will commence at 9am from the race village located at Coate Water Country Park. Runners will head along the Southern Connector Road towards Wanborough and Chiseldon, before looping back through Badbury and Badbury Wick to finish at Coate Water Park. The course includes an elevation of 180 metres, featuring a mix of flat sections and undulating terrain.

Event Information

Participants must be at least 17 years old to enter, and organisers have set a strict three-hour cut-off time for the race to ensure roads can reopen promptly. For spectators and participants, parking is available at the Polo Ground and the Nationwide Building Society, with shuttle buses provided to transport attendees to the starting area.
