Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway faces defensive challenges as injuries to Sam Inwood and Anthony Munda compound an ongoing illness sweep through the squad.

Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway is balancing a growing injury list alongside a disruptive illness that has affected his squad ahead of next weekend's fixtures. While there is optimism regarding the return of defender Stephan Negru, concerns persist over the fitness of Sam Inwood and Anthony Munda.

Negru was absent for the recent draw against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium due to illness, a condition that has impacted multiple members of the group throughout the week. Holloway noted that the uncertainty surrounding squad health persisted until arrival at the ground, with the manager himself also feeling the effects of the bug.

The defensive stability of the team, which kept a clean sheet against Bristol Rovers, faces fresh scrutiny following an injury to Sam Inwood. The Northern Ireland Under-21 international was forced off after just 20 minutes of play, with initial assessments suggesting a recurrence of a previous hamstring injury. Inwood, who made his league debut against Crewe Alexandra only a fortnight ago, will undergo further evaluation to determine the severity of the setback.

Meanwhile, the club remains cautious over the status of Newcastle United loanee Anthony Munda. Munda sustained a hyper-extended knee during the victory against Barnet last Tuesday. Although he completed that match, his condition necessitated further investigation. Holloway expressed concern regarding the nature of the injury, confirming that the player has been sent for a scan after the knee appeared to sustain significant impact.

Despite these challenges, the team managed to secure a resilient point in their latest outing. The technical staff continues to monitor the availability of players on a day-to-day basis as they prepare for the forthcoming programme.
