Joe Snowdon is expected to return to the Swindon Town squad for this weekend's League Two fixture against Rochdale, offering a boost to the team's attacking options.

Swindon Town are preparing for a challenging trip to the Crown Oil Arena this weekend with a significant boost to their attacking ranks, as the club expects Joe Snowdon to be available for selection against Rochdale.

Manager Ian Holloway is looking for his side to find a solution to their ongoing struggles on the road, with the team still seeking their first away win and first away goal of the current League Two campaign. While the most recent away defeat at Salford City proved difficult, there were signs of an improved performance that the club will hope to build upon in Greater Manchester.

Snowdon, 22, has endured a stop-start season so far. After managing tight hamstring and groin issues throughout pre-season, he made four appearances following his return against Oldham Athletic before being sidelined for the past two weeks with further soreness in his groin. Club officials are expected to manage his minutes carefully to preserve his fitness, a recurring theme for several players in the squad throughout this campaign.

The return of the former Leeds United player provides a welcome alternative for the manager. Holloway has previously indicated a desire to use Snowdon in a full-back role to increase attacking width, particularly while Mitch Clark remains suspended and Joel McGregor continues his recovery from injury. Although Snowdon is naturally an attacking midfielder or winger, his ability to deliver quality crosses from the flank offers a tactical variation that the team has been missing.

Swindon's current injury situation has left the squad notably light in attacking positions. Recent matchday squads have seen limited attacking options on the bench, while the club continues to manage the fitness of key players like Paul Glatzel and Joseph Hungbo. With a lengthy injury list that includes Louis Millard, Ollie Palmer, Harry Smith, and Fletcher Holman, Snowdon is the only player currently expected to make a return to action for the weekend encounter.
