Swindon Town FC receives a boost in squad depth with the return of two key players ahead of this weekend's match against Rotherham United.

Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway is set to welcome back Stephan Negru and Jaylan Pearman for the upcoming fixture against Rotherham United. The duo returns to the matchday squad after missing the recent goalless draw away to Bristol Rovers due to illness.

The return of Negru provides a timely defensive reinforcement for the side, particularly as Swindon faces a period of adjustment in the backline. Sam Inwood is confirmed to be unavailable for the next five to six weeks after sustaining a Grade 2 hamstring tear, an injury that compounds the current defensive challenges for the club.

For Pearman, the weekend match presents a chance to stake a claim for more consistent minutes. Having joined on loan from Queens Park Rangers at the start of the season, the player has struggled to break into the starting eleven. However, Holloway noted that recent tactical shifts to a system featuring two narrow attackers could suit his style of play, potentially opening a route for more frequent appearances.

The squad news also includes progress for Joel McGregor, who has completed a full week of training. His return offers the manager more options at right wing-back, where he is set to challenge for a place in the side. Additionally, there is positive news regarding the long-term recovery of striker Ollie Palmer, who has been involved in full training sessions this week. While he remains a target for a return, the upcoming cup fixture against Plymouth Argyle is viewed as the most likely venue for his re-entry into competitive action.

Meanwhile, defender Ryan Tafazolli is currently undergoing a scan on a toe injury, with the club hoping for a clearer timeline on his potential return to contention in the coming weeks.

Swindon's opponents, Rotherham United, also report activity in their camp, with forward George Sebine and defender Lenny Agbaire returning to their squad for the clash. Peterborough United loanee Klaidi Lolos is also expected to be available for the Millers despite recent injury concerns.
