Swindon Town Season Ticket Sales Fall Amidst Struggle for Home Form
By Swindon Now Editorial Team · Published

Swindon Town FC has confirmed lower season ticket sales for the 2026/27 campaign, with home attendances slipping behind the numbers seen during last season's promotion push.
Swindon Town Football Club has confirmed a dip in season ticket uptake for the 2026/27 season, with official figures revealing that 4,316 tickets have been sold. This total falls short of the 4,436 tickets purchased for the 2025/26 campaign.
The club had previously announced that 4,119 supporters had secured their seats before the start of the League Two season, with approximately 3,600 of those sold during the discounted early bird period that concluded at the start of June. The figures were disclosed in the club's Advisory Board minutes for September.
The decline in season ticket sales mirrors a broader cooling of home support at the Nigel Eady County Ground. Average home attendances currently stand at 7,608, a decrease from the 8,434 average recorded throughout the previous season. Notable dips have been seen in recent home fixtures against Walsall and Crewe Alexandra, where crowds fell below the 7,200 mark.
These numbers represent a shift in the trend seen last season, which was the first under owner Clem Morfuni where average home attendances rose compared to the previous year. While the 2024/25 season saw an average of 7,275, the current figures appear to be reverting to lower levels, remaining below the averages of 8,483 in 2023/24, 8,974 in 2022/23, and 9,449 in 2021/22.
Local observers have noted that Swindon is falling behind several League Two rivals in terms of early season ticket commitments. By comparison, Port Vale has reported sales of approximately 6,500, with Bristol Rovers and Grimsby Town also seeing significantly higher numbers in the thousands. This is despite Swindon having maintained the third-highest average attendance in the division last season.
Discussions regarding matchday costs continue among the fanbase, particularly following a seven per cent increase in ticket prices this summer. Industry analysis suggests the cheapest season ticket options at Swindon are now among the most expensive in League Two and sit in the top 15 across the entire English Football League.
Despite the cooling of home crowds, away support remains a point of strength for the club. The figures confirm that fans have continued to travel in significant numbers, with over 1,000 supporters attending three of the team's eight away matches so far this season, including a notable turnout at Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium.
