The Swindon and Cricklade Railway is hosting its annual Halloween Ghost Train event on 30 and 31 October with tickets available on the door.

Families in Swindon can look forward to a spooky spectacle this week as the Swindon and Cricklade Railway prepares for its annual Halloween Ghost Train event. The attraction is scheduled to run on 30 and 31 October at Blunsdon Station on Tadpole Lane.

The events will take place between 5pm and 9pm on both evenings. Organisers have confirmed that tickets will be available for purchase on the day, meaning no advance booking is required for those wishing to attend.

Passengers can expect an immersive experience beyond a standard train ride, with various Halloween characters including ghosts, skeletons, and witches expected to be out in force. The railway has advised that live actors in full costume and make-up will be present to provide scares. Consequently, parents are encouraged to use their discretion when bringing younger children along to the event. Visitors are also encouraged to join in the spirit of the occasion by wearing their own Halloween costumes.

Practical support will be available for attendees, with the Whistle Stop Cafe opening its doors throughout the evening to serve a variety of food and drinks.

The railway plans to operate different locomotives for each of the two nights. The site's resident diesel locomotive is scheduled to haul the train on Friday, while the steam locomotive Lady Lisa is due to be in service on Saturday. Railway officials have noted that services may be subject to alteration, suspension, or cancellation at short notice if required.

Ticket prices for the event have been confirmed at £12 for adults, £11 for seniors, and £10 for children. For further information, visitors are encouraged to contact the Swindon and Cricklade Railway directly or visit the station on the day.
