Residents in Swindon are invited to attend an immersive Christmas-themed murder mystery dinner this December.

A festive murder mystery event is set to take place at the Lydiard Park Hotel and Conference Centre this December, offering an evening of dining and investigation for local residents.

The event, titled Mr Carroll’s Christmas, is scheduled for 4 December 2026. Guests will be invited to help solve a fictional family drama centred on the Carroll family, who are gathering for their first Christmas since the sudden death of their matriarch, Holly Carroll. Throughout the evening, attendees will work to interpret evidence, question suspects, and share theories on whether the reunion will descend into further tragedy.

The evening begins at 7pm with a welcome glass of prosecco for all attendees. This will be followed by a three-course festive meal prepared by the hotel’s executive chef. The organisers have confirmed that the menu can accommodate vegan diners and those with other specific dietary requirements.

While the focus of the event is on the interactive mystery, the night will conclude with a disco hosted by the hotel’s resident DJ. Organisers have noted that while Christmas party wear is encouraged to add to the festive atmosphere, it remains optional for guests.

Tickets for the event are priced at £75 per person and are available to book via the hotel's website. The experience is restricted to adults aged 18 and over.
