Old Town road closures announced for Swindon Day of the Dead festival

Motorists are being advised to expect delays in central Swindon on November 1 as road closures and diversions are implemented for the town's Day of the Dead festival.
Drivers heading through Swindon's Old Town next month should plan their journeys in advance as a series of road closures will be in place to facilitate the popular Day of the Dead festival.
Swindon Borough Council has confirmed that closures will be active for most of the day on Sunday, 1 November, running from 6am until 8pm. The move is intended to ensure public safety during the town centre festivities.
Affected roads and closures
The temporary traffic regulation order will prohibit all vehicles from using the following sections of road:
Wood Street: The entire length will be closed to traffic.
Victoria Road: The section between Union Row and Bath Road will be shut to vehicles.
Diversion routes
To mitigate the disruption, the council has outlined clear diversion routes for both northbound and southbound traffic:
Northbound traffic: Drivers will be diverted via Devizes Road, Newport Street, High Street, Cricklade Street, Drove Road, and Groundwell Road.
Southbound traffic: Vehicles will be directed via Victoria Road, Regent Circus, Clarence Street, Groundwell Road, Drove Road, and Cricklade Street.
These closures follow a pattern of event-based traffic management in the area, with similar measures having been utilised for the Beer and Country Festival and the Street Food Festival earlier this year. Residents should also note that the council plans to implement similar traffic restrictions for the upcoming Christmas lights switch-on in late November and the Summer Festival scheduled for June next year.
Road users are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys through Old Town during the hours of the closure.
