Local founders are invited to pitch their business ideas to Moonpig founder Nick Jenkins and Furniturebox co-founder Monty George at an upcoming event in Trowbridge.

Early-stage entrepreneurs in Wiltshire are being given a rare opportunity to present their investment proposals to some of the business world’s most successful figures at the West Wiltshire Business Expo.

The event, held at The Civic in Trowbridge on Thursday, October 8, will feature a special Dragons' Den-style panel aimed at helping product-based founders refine their pitches. Among those headlining the panel is Nick Jenkins, the founder of Moonpig.com and a former investor on the BBC series Dragons' Den. Mr Jenkins, who has resided in Wiltshire since 2010, brings a wealth of experience from his background as a commodity trader and his role in scaling the online greetings card giant from a startup to a business valued at over £1 billion.

Joining him on the panel is Monty George, the co-founder of the Wiltshire-based online furniture retailer, Furniturebox. Having started the company at the age of 17, Mr George is set to share the lessons learned from building a firm that has consistently appeared on the Sunday Times list of fastest-growing companies. For young founders, the session serves as a platform to receive constructive feedback and practical advice ahead of seeking their first major investments.

The West Wiltshire Business Expo is organised by the Trowbridge Chamber CIC in partnership with the Federation of Small Businesses. Beyond the pitching session, the free event offers a comprehensive programme of talks covering essential business topics such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, sustainability, marketing, and business finance. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with representatives from major local employers, including Apetito, Nutricia, and Good Energy, as well as local government officials.

Interested entrepreneurs looking to take part in the pitching session are invited to email dragons@trowbridgechamber.com to request an application form. General tickets for the expo are free and can be booked via Eventbrite, with further details on exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities available by contacting the organisers.
