Trowbridge Link calls for volunteer drivers to support medical transport services

Volunteers from the Trowbridge Link Scheme are seeking new recruits after successfully assisting at a local flu and Covid vaccination clinic.
A local charity dedicated to supporting residents with medical transport is urging community members to step forward as volunteer drivers. The appeal from the Trowbridge Link Scheme follows a successful community effort at the Roundstone Surgery, where volunteers managed queues for over 1,100 people attending a recent flu and Covid vaccination clinic.
The charity, which provides essential transport for patients attending medical appointments across Wiltshire, is currently looking for individuals who enjoy driving and interacting with the public. Sarah Sneesby, chair of the charity, emphasised the vital role these volunteers play in helping residents access healthcare services.
For many local patients, the support provided by these drivers is a lifeline. Experienced volunteers, including Julian Calvin and Ken Foster, regularly transport Trowbridge residents to major hospitals in Bath, Bristol and Swindon. They are now hoping to encourage others, particularly those who have recently retired, to take on the role.
"We enjoyed meeting the public and handing out leaflets, fingers crossed someone newly retired and looking for a new challenge gives us a ring," the pair said following the clinic.
The Trowbridge Link Scheme is scheduled to return to the Roundstone Surgery to assist at the next vaccination clinic on October 17. Those interested in finding out more about becoming a volunteer driver are encouraged to contact the scheme on 07969 347042.
